Backstabbers only come so far
During the 12 - 14 years I’ve been working with creative projects, I’ve met my fair share of people who sabotage others. In this case me. It has been people who have stolen my ideas, wanted credit for my work, who have wanted to cooperate until they actually had to do something and hired me without paying invoices for the work I’ve done. One of them even called my clients and tried to spread rumors behind my back.
It’s been exhausting to say the least. Aggravating and frustrating. And more than a few times I’ve felt like shutting myself down and never collaborating with anyone else. That voice inside me that says ”It’s easier if I just do it all on my own” has been creeping up on me more times than I can remember.
But every time that happens, I make a choice to trust. Not the people who have treated me badly and taken no responsibility for it, but other people around me who are collaborative, creative, inspiring and including. Those who get that one person’s success doesn’t take away from someone else’s. When some people choose to stab others in the back and sabotage other people, I choose to create communities where we help each other.
That’s why I started Aurora Career and Communications Network. To give us a space where we can grow together, help each other and build connections. Where all of us and all of our dreams take up space, and where we help each other succeed in the ways that we can.
Everyone is welcome. In this community it doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from and what your current title is. What matters is that fire in your heart and the dreams you want to make come true.
The only reason why some people aren’t welcome is those who stab others in the back, lie, spread rumors, steal other people’s ideas, refuse to pay for other people’s work or give comments like ”who do you think you are” or ”that’s never going to work”.
Because we don’t accept bullies in our spaces. And backstabbers only come so far. So let’s show them, once and for all, that there’s so much more to gain from working together. And welcome them when they’re ready to deal with their issues and join us.
